Is it worth booking live music for my small wedding?

Monday’s tentative good news from the government regarding weddings means being able to move forward with making plans, but if you’re having a smaller wedding with fewer guests does that also mean cutting back on entertainment?

With fewer guests it might seem like the right thing to cut back on suppliers including live music, however a smaller gathering can really benefit from the added atmosphere that live music can bring.

Pre Ceremony Welcome and Ceremony Music:

Back in the Autumn we played for a handful of smaller weddings. At a couple of the venues staff chatted with us afterwards as they wanted to let us know what a huge difference our music had made to the ambience and the feel of the wedding. We learned how our music had set the scene, putting people at their ease and giving a warm welcome, (no awkward silences!) particularly for the pre ceremony music when guests were just starting to arrive.

We also had lovely messages afterwards from happy couples who had booked us:

Tamsin and Phil: Pre Ceremony and Ceremony only booking, Autumn 2020:

Thank you for making the experience so seamless, from arranging everything over email and turning up on the day all prepared and sounding absolutely beautiful!..Your music was absolutely stunning and really made the ceremony so extra special!

Thank you again for your professionalism

Reception Music:

Couples also booked us for their receptions. These were booked in restaurants and more intimate venues. One couple chose to have a mixology class as part of their drinks reception and we set the party vibe by playing our more modern pop classics!

“Blue Topaz played at our wedding in October 2020. We were originally planning a 100 person wedding but due to the pandemic we went ahead with 15 of our friends and family. I have to say that having a string trio was the absolute perfect addition to our day. They’re great for such an intimate crowd and the mix of modern classics made it feel so unique”

Evening Music:

Another couple decided they wanted us to be a part of the whole day. After playing pre and during their ceremony plus a drinks reception set, we also provided an evening set for their post dinner cocktails where we played our most up beat and fun songs! This worked very well especially as hiring a full band wasn’t permitted.

First Dance:

Whilst dancing wasn’t allowed the bride and groom did enjoy a little sway/cuddle together whilst we played our unique string version ‘At Last’ for their ‘First Dance’. It was beautifully romantic!
